Large Magnetic Fields and Motions of Oh Masers in W75 N
نویسنده
چکیده
We report on a second epoch of VLBA observations of the 1665 and 1667 MHz OH masers in the massive star-forming region W75 N. We find evidence to confirm the existence of very strong (∼ 40 mG) magnetic fields near source VLA 2. The masers near VLA 2 are dynamically distinct and include a very bright spot apparently moving at 50 km s−1 relative to those around VLA 1. This fast-moving spot may be an example of a rare class of OH masers seen in outflows in star-forming regions. Due to the variability of these masers and the rapidity of their motions, tracking these motions will require multiple observations over a significantly shorter time baseline than obtained here. Proper motions of the masers near VLA 1 are more suggestive of streaming along magnetized shocks rather than Keplerian rotation in a disk. The motions of the easternmost cluster of masers in W75 N (B) may be tracing slow expansion around an unseen exciting source. Proper Motions of Oh Masers and Magnetic Fields in Massive Star-forming Regions
We present data of proper motions of OH masers in the massive star-forming regions ON 1, K3-50, and W51 Main/South. OH maser motions in ON 1 are consistent with expansion at approximately 5 km s−1, likely tracing the expanding ultracompact H II region. Motions in K3-50 are faster and may be indicating the final stages of OH maser emission in the source, before the OH masers turn off as the H II...
متن کاملFull-Polarization Observations of OH Masers in Massive Star-Forming Regions: II. Maser Properties and the Interpretation of Polarization
We analyze full-polarization VLBA data of ground-state, main-line OH masers in 18 massive star-forming regions previously presented in a companion paper. From the aggregate properties of our sources, we confirm results previously seen in the few individual sources studied at milliarcsecond angular resolution. The OH masers often arise in the shocked neutral gas surrounding ultracompact H II reg...
متن کاملStatistical Analysis of Water Masers in Star-forming Regions: Cepheus a and W75 N
We have done a statistical analysis of Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) data of water masers in the star-forming regions (SFRs) Cepheus A and W75 N, using correlation functions to study the spatial clustering and Doppler-velocity distribution of these masers. Two-point spatial correlation functions show a characteristic scale size for clusters of water maser spots .1 AU, similar to the values fo...
متن کاملOH maser disc and outflow in the Orion-BN/KL region
MERLIN measurements of 1.6-GHz OH masers associated with Orion-BN/KL are presented, and the data are compared with data on other masers, molecular lines, compact radio continuum sources and infrared sources in the region. OH masers are detected over an area 30 arcsec in diameter, with the majority lying along an approximately E-W structure that extends for ∼18 arcsec, encompassing the infrared ...
متن کاملStructure of W3(oh) from Very High Spectral Resolution Observations of 5 Centimeter Oh Masers
Recent studies of methanol and ground-state OH masers at very high spectral resolution have shed new light on small-scale maser processes. The nearby source W3(OH), which contains numerous bright masers in several different transitions, provides an excellent laboratory for high spectral resolution techniques. We present a model of W3(OH) based on EVN observations of the rotationally-excited 603...
